SIMS: Information on Hosted SIMS

Most schools have a SIMS server installed on site and can use the Parents Evening SIMS Extract Tool to sync their data. However, if your SIMS server is hosted off-site you may need to follow a different route. This article covers the most common hosted arrangements and advises you how to proceed.

If your SIMS is hosted by:

ESS SIMS (formerly Capita)

This also applies to SIMS Connect in the Cloud. There should be a computer at the school that is the 'SIMS Connector'. If so, you should install  SIMS Extract Tool on that computer. If you do not have the connector installed, or are not sure, you will need to speak to the ESS SIMS Hosted Team and advise them that you want to run syncs between SIMS and Tes Parents' Meetings.

Once this is completed you can then sync from your hosted SIMS in exactly the same way as if SIMS was in the school, by following the guide here: SIMS: How to setup SIMS integration for Parents Evening. If you are a new customer and still at the Getting Started process, then when you get to the SIMS page you can choose Installed at School and follow the instructions that appear.

Scomis

Syncing with SIMS is very straightforward and done via a "Hosted Application" that  Scomis provide. If you're not sure how to do this please contact Scomis and they should be able to assist you. Please see this link for more info: http://faq.scomis.org/kb2170/
